Real Madrid star to become partial owner of Swansea City | OneFootball

A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid is set to become a partial owner of Welsh club Swansea City.

That’s according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Luka Modrić as the player in question.

Now 39 years of age, the legendary Modrić has evidently begun planning for life after hanging up his boots.

Keen to maintain his close ties to the game, the Croatian in turn recently began seeking out potential boardroom opportunities across the world of football.

And as alluded to above, as much over the last couple of weeks led Modrić to something of a surprise landing spot.

As per Fabrizio Romano:

‘Luka Modrić, set to become new Minority Owner at Swansea. Modrić will become one of the owners of the Championship club, deal agreed.’

It is also noted that his decision to take up an ownership role at the Liberty Stadium will not affect Modrić’s plans when it comes to his playing career, with the former Tottenham man pushing for a fresh one-year contract extension with Real Madrid.
