Set to become a free agent next month, the defender found the back of the net in Arsenal’s final-day 2-1 victory against Southampton at St Mary’s, converting an excellent cross from Ben White inside the box.
In an interview with Arsenal.com, Arteta revealed that Tierney had foreseen his farewell unfolding just as it did ahead of Sunday’s game: “He said it yesterday, I’m going to score in my last Arsenal match, and he’s done it!” he said.

“So, credit to him, a special thank you to him. He’s been part of the journey, and he’s won with me. It’s true that he went to Sociedad for a few months, but it’s been a joy to work with him, a really special character. We wish him and his family all the very best.”
“The doors of this club are open for him – he’s someone very, very liked at the club, in the dressing room, and we want to wish him the best.”

Tierney made the switch from Celtic to Arsenal in 2019 for a then record transfer fee of £25 million during the tenure of Unai Emery, who now manages Aston Villa.
Over six seasons, KT featured in 144 matches for the Gunners, netting six goals and also spent a loan spell with La Liga side Real Sociedad for one year.
In January, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers announced that Tierney would return to the club after his contract with Arsenal came to an end.

During his initial spell at the club, Tierney featured in 170 games for Celtic and secured eight trophies along the way.
The 27-year-old, who has represented his country 49 times, will be aiming to notch his 50th appearance during next month’s international friendlies against Iceland and Liechtenstein under Steve Clarke’s stewardship.
