Where is it in London as both Tottenham and Crystal Palace take to the streets to celebrate their victories in the Europa League and FA Cup respectively. Or very recently in Newcastle (League Cup) and Liverpool (Premier League Champions)?
The title celebrations held by the Celtic supporters in the city centre last weekend still very much continue to dominate the headlines.
Whilst I can agree that some supporters take things too far mainly through consuming too much alcohol, there wasn’t that much way in serious trouble and only a small number of arrests were made on the day, nothing unusual on a hot Saturday in Glasgow, even more impressive when you consider the large number in attendance.

It also makes you wonder where all this concern was four years ago when theRangers supporters descended on the city during a worldwide pandemic and caused utter destruction and mayhem all in front of an accompanied police escort.
Both Glasgow City council and Police Scotland were very low key on the issue and no major issue was made about the entire farcical incident. Just as they don’t see a problem with the many sectarian orange marches that descend on our city week after week in the summer months.

Fast forward a few years and all of a sudden it’s an issue. Our past few title celebrations have been met with sheer disgust from council officials and senior police officials. Local papers get cheap copy photographing the rubbish left on the streets and use that as a stick to beat Celtic supporters, all while they have nothing to say on messy streets elsewhere. Or did those councils put the facilities in place? You’d think that they would be accustomed to these celebrations such is our dominance in the Scottish game.
That folks is indeed the problem, our success is too much for some to stomach. Well I’ve got bad news for them, it’s not going to go away and they better be prepared as it’s going to be a regular occurrence in the coming years. Even the top brass at Police Scotland agree with us that there should be an organised event. Do the City Council think we have all forgotten about their opposition to Celtic creating a fan-zone are at Celtic Park?

Even if Celtic don’t win the league next they are going to have a problem, a much bigger problem actually as theRangers fans take to the street. We all remember how that ended four years ago. GCC need to get their act together and fast.
