When Vinicius Junior clinched the Best Men’s Player award at the 2024 Globe Soccer gala, it seemed like a tiebreaker against Rodri.

While the Man City midfielder had controversially won the Ballon d’Or earlier in the season, Vinicius has since bagged the FIFA Best and now Globe Soccer’s Best Men’s Player award.

Vinicius was, in fact, the name on everyone’s lip at the gala, with Cristiano Ronaldo notably admitting that the forward should have won the Ballon d’Or as well.

Speaking at the gala after his triumph, Vinicius thanked the club and the fans while admitting that it wasn’t an easy road.

“It’s not easy to get here. I’ve given up a lot in pursuit of my dreams and one main goal. To make my loved ones proud,” Vinicius said.

“Receiving such an important award rounds off a wonderful year for me. I’ve won five titles with Real Madrid and this individual recognition from Globe Soccer shows that I’m on the right track,” he added.

Vinicius has indeed enjoyed a stellar 2024. His performances in the UEFA Champions League, in particular, were critical in helping Real Madrid secure their 15th UCL title last season.

The Brazilian, in fact, starred in the final against Borussia Dortmund, producing an excellent second half performance that made life difficult for the Black and Yellows.

“I’d like to thank Real Madrid, Flamengo and the Brazilian national team for allowing me to fulfill my dream of playing football. And, of course, to all my teammates. Best player in the world!” he concluded.

It is apparent that Vinicius’ lost confidence is somewhat following triumphs at not only Globe Soccer podium but also the FIFA Best Gala.

These awards have acknowledged the Brazilian’s contributions for Real Madrid last season and it goes without saying that the explosive forward will be a strong contender for these awards next season as well.
