Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has suffered a huge blow in his bid to play for Juventus again after club director Cristiano Giuntoli insisted that they still want to get rid of him.

Pogba, who has a contract with Juventus until 2026, is set to have his doping ban end in March.

He has been suspended for failing a drug test, which has kept him out of action since September 2023. He was handed a four-year ban but this was recently reduced to 18 months after the player lodged a successful appeal.

The Frenchman recently declared his intention to line up for Thiago Motta’s side again.

In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Pogba even revealed his willingness to take a pay cut to remain in Turin.

The Carrington academy graduate said, “I am currently a Juve player and that is all that I am thinking about today…I am willing to take a salary cut to stay at Juventus.”

However, it appears that the Serie A outfit are not at all interested in him remaining on their books.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano [via GFFN], Juventus are still insistent on parting ways with Pogba. The World Cup winner is not deemed to be part of the club’s plans for both “financial and technical reasons.”

Indeed, Juventus director Giuntoli recently confirmed as much.

He told the media, “Pogba was a great player but we have different plans now.”

“We’ve invested on different players and our team is now complete.”

The Old Lady currently have six midfielders competing for three starting positions, namely Teun Koopmeiners, Weston McKennie, Manuel Locatelli, Nicolo Fagioli, Khephren Thuram and Douglas Luiz.

Pogba will therefore be on the hunt for a new club in 2025.
