Todd Boehly and the Clearlake Capital took over as owners of Chelsea last summer and subsequently sign several players over the following two transfer windows.
They splashed out £600 million but only managed to unsettle the squad. The lopsided set-up made it hard for any manager to achieve cohesion with the team.
The Blues have now decided to sell several fringe and underperforming stars as they strive to comply with Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.
Chelsea are listening to offers for several players and have already got a few through the exit door ahead of the final day of the fiscal year, June 30.
Kai Havertz
Chelsea have agreed a £65m deal to sell German forward Kai Havertz to London rivals Arsenal.
Despite scoring a few memorable goals for the club, he never delivered on the promise he showed at Bayer Leverkusen.
The 24-year-old will join Mikel Arteta’s side ahead of next season.
Mateo Kovacic
Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic is another who is already practically out of the Stamford Bridge exit.
He will join Manchester City in a £35m deal. He had an uninspiring campaign and looked like he had checked out.
With one year left on his deal with the club, they decided to sell him to City, where he will replace Ilkay Gundogan, who joined Barcelona this morning.
Edouard Mendy
Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli are close to completing a deal to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy following his three-year spell in England.
The 31-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the club and will move to the Gulf nation to continue his career.
The Blues will likely receive a fee of less than €10m for the Senegalese international.
Hakim Ziyech
Morocco international Hakim Ziyech will head to Al Nassr from Chelsea. He will join five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ziyech has failed to establish himself for the London side following his move from Ajax three years ago.
The two-time Champions League winners will recoup around £7m for his sale.
Kalidou Koulibaly
Another Senegalese international will be leaving the club this summer. Kalidou Koulibaly has been disappointing since coming to the club from Napoli last year.
Chelsea decided to sell him after only one season in the Premier League and will recoup around £17m from the sale.
Chelsea could recoup as much as £135m by June 30. The remaining players they sell will count in the new fiscal year.
They have re-entered talks to sell Ruben Loftus-Cheek to AC Milan for between £15-20m. Callum Hudson-Odoi and Romelu Lukaku could also be sold.
Mason Mount will likely leave despite the club rejecting a third bid from Manchester United.
Chelsea are awaiting offers for Christian Pulisic, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ethan Ampadu and possibly more.
