Eric Abidal’s wife accuses former defender of “emotional blackmail” | OneFootball

After the investigation into the attack suffered by PSG’s Kheira Hamraoui back in 2021 pointed to a potential link with an alleged extramarital relationship between the midfielder and former defender Eric Abidal, the latter has been in divorce proceedings with his wife Hayet.

Any link between the affair and the assault suffered by Hamraoui has since been discarded by police. This week, the ex-Barcelona man’s divorce took a public turn when his wife posted a series of Instagram stories accusing him of “emotional blackmail” and “repeated suicide threats”, as reported on by L’Équipe.

More specifically, Hayet Abidal accuses her husband, from whom she requested a divorce two years ago, of threatening to not take the medicine needed to avoid his liver transplant being rejected, after undergoing an operation following the liver tumour he suffered back in 2011. She also claims that the ex-French international made the threats in front of the couple’s children.
