Hannibal's goal helped Burnley secure a 2-1 win over Norwich City on Friday night
Hannibal Mejbri has celebrated Burnley’s win over Norwich City on social media.
The Tunisia international bagged his first goal for the Clarets in their 2-1 victory over the Canaries, moving them back into top spot in the Championship table, albeit potentially only temporarily.
Scott Parker’s side took the lead through Hannibal before Jaidon Anthony supplied the second on the 24th minute.
Jack Stacey pulled one back in the final quarter of an hour, but Burnley held on for a massive three points with only four games left to play this season.
Hannibal expressed his delight at scoring his first goal for Burnley on social media after the game.
The midfielder also earned the man of the match award for his crucial performance, which could prove instrumental to their automatic promotion push.
“BOOOOOOMMM !! MOTM,” wrote Hannibal, via Twitter.
Hannibal joined Burnley in the summer from Manchester United, and has been a regular presence in Parker’s team this season.
The 22-year-old has made 33 appearances in the Championship, including 19 starts, and now has his first goal to his name after Friday night.
The midfielder has also contributed two assists, proving a key player in the club’s push for a top two finish.
Burnley are now unbeaten in their last 29 league games, with their last defeat coming against Millwall in November.
The Clarets have also won four of their last five fixtures, which has put them ahead of Sheffield United in the battle for a top two spot.
The Lancashire outfit were level on points with Leeds United going into the weekend, but this victory has temporarily lifted them ahead before the Whites’ clash with Preston North End.
Next up for Burnley is a trip to face Watford on 18 April.
Hannibal bagged his first goal in the 14th minute, and could’ve had another later in the game, but his shot hit the post.
This was a strong performance when it was needed most, proving a big difference-maker with the team in need of three points.
Burnley can now enjoy the rest of the weekend knowing their place inside the top two is secured for another few days, until at least next Friday.
If the midfielder can play like that for the remaining games, then his signing will have proven invaluable for the role he’ll have played in ensuring promotion back to the Premier League.
