Manchester United have reignited their interest in Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, amid concerns over Andre Onana’s performances at Old Trafford.

Onana was at fault for both goals as Manchester United drew 2-2 at Lyon in their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday night.

The Cameroonian was deceived by Thiago Almada’s free-kick for the opener, before failing to hold a stoppage-time effort from Corentin Tolisso. That error allowed Rayan Cherki to score on the rebound and leaves the tie in the balance ahead of the return.

Onana has now made more errors leading to goals in all competitions (8) than any Premier League goalkeeper since his arrival at Old Trafford. Despite that statistic, Ruben Amorim backed Onana this week and said he retains confidence in the 29-year-old.

“That can happen with any player. There’s nothing I can say to André in this moment that will help. The most important thing is to be natural and then, when the time comes, I will choose the best XI to play. But I’m really confident in André.

“It can happen, if you play football, you play a lot of games, you can make mistakes. If you look at the season, I make more mistakes than them during these last games and these last months.”

However, According to talkSPORT, United are considering entering the market for a new goalkeeper. Zion Suzuki is a player who has been monitored by the Red Devils for some time, with the club linked with a potential move during the Erik ten Hag era.

Suzuki signed for Parma from Urawa Red Diamonds last summer and has made 27 appearances in Serie A this season. The 22-year-old has already won 18 caps for Japan at international level and helped his nation to World Cup qualification last month.
