Roma coach Claudio Ranieri praised the team skipper for his performances in tonight’s win over Empoli.
After the match, the veteran technician spoke to reporters, singling out Lorenzo Pellegrini.
“He played an amazing match today. Today he played a game of quantity and quality,” he said.
“I told him that it wasn’t him who had changed, and I had to look for what was wrong with him,” he continued. “The fact is that now the referees have changed their way of refereeing and he has fallen a bit behind in this. Now they either call a blatant foul or they don’t call and he, when there is a half-foul, stops.”
“I told him not to do it and to try to react, because that’s what he lacks. You don’t have to teach anything to a player like Lorenzo, just to reset his recorder and erase all those notes he had and relate to the referees.”
“The captain delighted us today, especially in the first half. He always played for the team.”
