At 16 years, 7 months and 12 days of age, Camarda yesterday became the youngest Italian debutant in the history of the Champions League, as he came off the pitch last night at Stadio San Siro to replace Álvaro Morata in the 75′ minute.

The Rossoneri won the game 3-1, but it was very nearly 4-1, with Camarda scoring a header minutes into his debut. However, VAR ruled the youngster to be offside and the goal was disallowed.

“The record makes me very proud, to be honest, and it pushes me to give more to improve myself and make nights like this happen more often,” Camarda told Sky.

The disallowed goal…“It was the best feeling of my life, and then VAR played a trick on me. I’m very disappointed but these things happen, especially in football these days. I want to do more.”

Is this the best day of your life, disallowed goal aside?“Yes, absolutely. I can’t find the words to describe it. These are the nights you dream of since you are a child, so it’s normal that whether as a starter, for 70 minutes, 15 minutes or 5 minutes – you give your life.”

When did you realize you could become a professional footballer?“That’s a tough question. I don’t know, you always dream of a night like this. You imagine it in your head, playing in the park. It really happened and whatever happens – happens.”
