Celtic fans, and those of other teams as well, are always worried about players picking up possible injuries while away with their national sides. Unfortunately, those fears came true at the weekend. Kasper Schmeichel appeared to suffer a shoulder injury in the game between Denmark and Portugal, which Cristiano Ronaldo's side won by a 5-2 scoreline.

That was not the end of it for Schmeichel though. His injury came at a time when Denmark had already used up all of their subs.

So, the goalkeeper decided to play on with his injury rather than going off. Because leaving the pitch would mean that not only would Denmark be left with ten men but one of their outfield players would also have to step in as the goalkeeper.

The situation would not have been ideal. So, Schmeichel deserves a ton of credit for showing so much bravery, even though it ended up being a losing effort.

Now though, Schmeichel's situation has emerged as a worry for Celtic. There have been suggestions that he has been seen in a sling recently.

But as reported by The Scottish Sun, Denmark national squad's doctor, Morten Boesen, has tried to allay fears as he said:

"Kasper Schmeichel's left shoulder was X-rayed last night and fortunately the images do not show anything abnormal."He is clearly in pain after a fall on his shoulder, so we are examining him further with an MRI scan."

Celtic fans will be hoping that the injury is nothing serious. They need the Danish goalkeeper to be available as the club head towards the business end of the season. The league title is still there to be won while the Scottish Cup is up for grabs as well.

If Schmeichel does end up needing to spend time on the sidelines due to his injury, then one would expect Viljami Sinisalo to come in and take his place between the posts for Celtic. Other than that, they have Scott Bain, but he has not played a minute of football this season.
