Chelsea have never considered letting Reece James leave despite reports suggesting otherwise according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues are once again set for a busy summer, with the club looking to sign a striker, centre back and right footed attacker to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s squad.

Chelsea could look to fund their business by selling seven or eight players, with a number of stars either wanting to move on or surplus to requirements.

Chelsea never considered James sale

James has struggled over the past few years with constant injury issues, which have lead to him being linked with a move away from Chelsea.

The 25-year-old has missed a number of games with a hamstring injury, but since returning he’s managed to stay fit, with Maresca doing a great job in managing his minutes.

James played a key role in the win against United as he brilliantly set up Marc Cucurella for the only goal in the second half, and Romano has now provided an update on his future.

He took to X.com and said:

“Chelsea never considered Reece James exit despite reports in the recent months and years, always been key part of the project, and tonight, one more crucial assist to help in big moment for the Blues.”

James has now made 25 appearances in all competitions this season, which is significantly more than he managed during the last campaign.

Chelsea spoilt for choice at right back

When fit and playing at his best James is one of, if not the best right back in the world and fans would love to see him get back to bombing up and down the right hand side and being a threat in the final third.

James has been in out and out of the starting line-up over the second half of the campaign, but the Blues are spoilt for choice at right back.

Malo Gusto has had a difficult season, but he’s still very young and has so much quality, whilst they also have academy star Josh Acheampong who’s impressed.

Even if James is absent or rotated Chelsea have great options, but none are as good as him when he’s fully fit and on it.
